Text Templates are lightweight, non-HTML formats used primarily for high-speed delivery channels like SMS, WhatsApp, and simple in-app alerts. They focus on clear, concise communication without the overhead of complex layouts or images.

Overview
Unlike Document Templates which use external files, or Email Templates which utilize the Page Builder, Text Templates are managed entirely within the SnapApp Template interface. They are designed for “short-form” messages where deliverability and character count (especially for SMS) are critical.
Configuration
1. Access Templates
Navigate to Settings > UX > Templates.
2. Create New Template
- Click + Add New.
- Name: Give your template a clear title (e.g., “MFA Code” or “Task Reminder”).
- Source: Select Text from the dropdown.
- Type: Select the relevant channel (e.g., SMS or Voice Call).
3. Compose Content
Type your message directly into the Template Content box. You can use standard SnapApp merge fields to personalize the message.
Using Merge Fields
Merge fields in text templates allow you to insert record data dynamically.

[!IMPORTANT] Character Limits: When creating templates for SMS, keep in mind that a standard SMS segment is 160 characters. Dynamic fields can increase the length of your message unexpectedly, potentially resulting in multiple segments per send.
Usage in Workflows
Once saved and toggled to Active, your text template can be selected within a SMS Action. When the workflow triggers, SnapApp will:
- Retrieve the template.
- Resolve all
[[merge_fields]]using the trigger record’s data. - Dispatch the message through your configured SMS provider.
