Phone Field
The Phone field type is designed to capture, store, and validate telephone numbers. It ensures that entries follow a numeric format suitable for international or domestic dialing and enables direct communication actions like “Click-to-Call” and SMS integration within the app.
Phone Field Properties
Note: Every field in SnapApp shares a set of universal properties, such as Display and Edit settings, that are configured during creation.

Basic Properties
The Basic Properties tab establishes the field’s identity and its relationship to the parent object.
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Data Type | Set to Phone. This enables numeric input masking and communication triggers. |
| Object | The parent object this field belongs to. |
| Label | The user-facing name, such as “Mobile Number” or “Office Phone”. |
| Column Name | Prepopulated from the Label (e.g., applicant_phone). |
| Description | Internal notes explaining the preferred format or contact hours for this number. |

Communication Permissions
The Phone field includes specialized communication triggers located under the Field Permissions section to facilitate mobile-first interactions:
- Send SMS: A checkbox that, when enabled, places a communication button next to the phone number in the application interface.

SMS Interface
SnapApp facilitates immediate outreach through a built-in messaging tool. When the Send SMS permission is active, a dedicated button appears next to the stored contact number.

Clicking the Send SMS button opens the Send SMS Popup Modal. This provides a focused environment for drafting and dispatching text messages.
Modal Features:
- To: Users can manually enter the intended recipient’s phone number.
- Message Composition: A large Body text area for entering the message content.
- AI Assistance: The Generate Text option allows for the use of AI to help write or refine the message.
- Simple Controls: Standard Cancel and Send buttons to manage the communication.
Thank you for following these steps to configure your SnapApp components. Building a well-structured data environment is the first step toward creating a powerful, automated application that scales with your needs.
