Signature Field
The Signature field type provides a secure, interactive pad for capturing digital signatures. It is commonly used for authorization, service acknowledgments, and legal compliance within mobile and web applications.
Field Properties
Note: Every field in SnapApp shares a set of universal properties, such as Display and Edit settings, that are configured during creation.

Basic Properties
The Basic Properties tab establishes the field’s identity and intent.
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Data Type | Set to Signature. This enables the touch-sensitive drawing canvas. |
| Object | The parent object where the signature will be stored. |
| Label | The user-facing name, such as “Customer Signature” or “Approval”. |
| Column Name | Prepopulated from the Label (e.g., final_approval_signature). |
| Description | Internal notes explaining the legal or procedural requirement for this signature. |
Data Type Properties
When the Signature data type is selected, you can configure the legal acknowledgement associated with the signature:
- Acceptance Text: This field allows you to enter specific legal language or an acknowledgment statement (e.g., “I hereby agree to the terms and conditions listed above”) that appears directly above the signature pad.
- Customization: Use this to tailor acknowledgments for different forms, compliance types, or regional legal requirements.

The signature field offers a versatile interface for end-users, supporting multiple methods of entry to ensure accessibility across different devices.
User Interaction Methods
Users can choose their preferred method for providing a signature via the toggle at the top of the interface:
- Type: Users can type their name into a text field. The system automatically converts the text into a stylized signature font. Users can often select from different font styles (e.g., “Journal”) to personalize the output.

- Draw: Users can draw their signature directly on a touch-sensitive canvas using a finger, stylus, or mouse. This provides the most traditional “pen-on-paper” feel.

Key Interface Features
- Acceptance Text Visibility: The custom acknowledgment text is displayed prominently below the input area, ensuring the user sees what they are agreeing to before they sign.
- Clear & Submit: A Clear button allows for immediate resets if a mistake is made, while the Adopt and Sign button finalizes the entry.
Thank you for following these steps to configure your SnapApp components. Building a well-structured data environment is the first step toward creating a powerful, automated application that scales with your needs.
