Show Field
The Show field type is a structural and decorative component used to enhance the User Interface (UI) and organize form layouts. Unlike other fields, it does not store user-inputted data in the database; instead, it serves to display static or dynamic content, group related fields, or create navigational structures like tabs and wizards.
Show Field Properties
Note: Every field in SnapApp shares a set of universal properties, such as Display and Edit settings, that are configured during creation.

Basic Properties
The Basic Properties tab establishes the field’s identity within the layout engine.
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Data Type | Set to Show. This enables layout and decorative elements. |
| Object | The parent object where this UI element will appear. |
| Label | An internal name for the element. For layout breaks or lines, this may not be visible to the user. |
| Column Name | Prepopulated from the Label (e.g., section_header_show). |
| Description | Internal notes explaining the purpose of this UI element. |
Data Type Properties
When the Show data type is selected, the following configuration options define the nature of the UI element:
Show Categories
A dropdown menu that determines the function and appearance of the field:
- Content Types:
- Text: Displays standard static text.
- Rich Text: Displays formatted text (bold, colors, links).
- URL: Renders a clickable hyperlink.
- Image: Displays a static image or icon.
- Video: Embeds a video player.
- Layout Elements:
- Section: Creates a labeled container to group following fields.
- Tab: Creates a horizontal navigation tab.
- Wizard: Creates a step-by-step guided process.
- Flexibility: The user can freely go back and forth between steps using “Next” and “Previous” controls or the top wizard navigation bar.
- Data Persistence: Any data entered is automatically saved as the user navigates between steps, preventing data loss during multi-stage inputs.
- Break:
- Break: Forces a vertical space or line break in the form.
- Horizontal Line: Renders a visual separator across the form width.
Show Content
The Show Content field is where you define the actual information to be displayed. This can be:
- Static Text: Direct entry (e.g., “Please fill out the following section accurately”).
- Expression/Formula: A dynamic calculation that changes based on the record.
