Rating Field

The Rating field type is used to capture and display qualitative feedback or performance metrics through a standardized visual scale. It is ideal for “Customer Satisfaction,” “Performance Reviews,” or “Product Quality” assessments, allowing users to input values that translate into visual star ratings.

Basic Properties

The Basic Properties tab establishes the field’s identity and its relationship to the parent object.

Data Type Properties

When the Rating data type is selected, specialized configurations become available to define the scale and interaction:

• Stars: The maximum number of stars allowed in the rating scale (e.g., setting this to 5 creates a 5-star scale).
• Input Mode: A dropdown menu determining the interface used for data entry.

Input Interface Options

The field provides two distinct ways for users to provide feedback depending on the chosen Input Mode:

1. Stars Mode

This mode provides a purely visual interface. Users click directly on the glyphs to set the desired rating. It is the most intuitive option for quick feedback like product or service reviews.

2. Value Mode

This mode provides a standard numeric input box accompanied by Adjustment Arrows. Users can type the specific number or use the arrows to increment the rating. This is useful for precise performance metrics.
