DateTime Field
The DateTime field type captures both calendar date and precise clock time information within a single data point. By default, SnapApp stores this information in the format YYYY-MM-DD 00:00:00.
DateTime Field Properties
Note: Every field in SnapApp shares a set of universal properties, such as Display and Edit settings, that are configured during creation.

Basic Properties
The Basic Properties tab establishes the field’s identity and its relationship to the parent object.
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Data Type | Set to DateTime. This enables the combined calendar and clock picker UI. |
| Object | The parent object this field belongs to. |
| Label | The user-facing name, such as “Created At” or “Appointment Time”. |
| Column Name | Prepopulated from the Label. Convention: 3–5 words separated by underscores (e.g., last_maintenance_timestamp). |
| Description | Internal notes explaining the business relevance of this timestamp. |
Data Type Properties
When the DateTime data type is selected, the following specific option becomes available in the Data Type Properties section:
- Ignore Seconds: A checkbox that, when enabled, removes the “seconds” component from the user interface and database entry. This is ideal for appointment scheduling or general logs where
HH:MMprecision is sufficient andHH:MM:SScreates unnecessary data noise.

User Interface & Interaction
The DateTime field provides a seamless dual-picker interface to ensure data accuracy while maintaining ease of use.
- Calendar View: When the field is selected, a calendar appears allowing users to jump between months and years. The current date is highlighted for quick reference.
- Time Toggle: By clicking the Clock Icon at the bottom of the calendar overlay, users can switch views to adjust hours, minutes, and (if enabled) seconds.
- Input Formatting: Manually typed entries are automatically converted to the standard SnapApp ISO timestamp.

Thank you for following these steps to configure your SnapApp components. Building a well-structured data environment is the first step toward creating a powerful, automated application that scales with your needs.
