The Date field type is used to capture and store calendar dates without time information. It provides a standardized interface for data entry, ensuring all records follow the YYYY-MM-DD format required by the SnapApp database.

Basic Properties
The Basic Properties tab establishes the field’s identity and its relationship to the parent object.
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Data Type | Set to Date. This enables the calendar picker UI. |
| Object | The parent object this field belongs to. |
| Label | The user-facing name, such as “Due Date” or “Join Date”. |
| Column Name | Prepopulated from the Label. Convention: 3–5 words separated by underscores (e.g., project_start_date). |
| Description | Internal notes explaining the business relevance of this date. |

User Interface & Interaction
When the Date data type is selected, SnapApp automatically applies a specialized calendar interface to ensure data integrity.
- Calendar Picker: When the field is clicked, a calendar view appears. Users can navigate through months and years or click the current date for rapid entry.
- Format Enforcement: The UI prevents users from entering non-date characters. This ensures the database always receives a valid
YYYY-MM-DDentry. - Smart Input: Manually typed dates are automatically validated to maintain consistency across all records.

Thank you for following these steps to configure your SnapApp components. Building a well-structured data environment is the first step toward creating a powerful, automated application that scales with your needs.
