Note: After setting the general settings, you must Publish the view before continuing with additional configuration.

Different features of Kanban View Builder

The builder allows you to customize the look of the cards and the data they contain:

Feature Category Description
General Settings Defines core identity (Name, Slug) and Card Type, which can be Fixed Size Grid, Masonry Style, or Lightbox.
View Configuration Controls card content, including Title, Subtitle, Summary, and Thumbnail. You can also toggle Field Labels and Filter Bars.
Visual Style Configure Image Style (Circle, Cover, Fill) and Embed Style (Normal or Carousel) for your cards.
Security Settings Sets the visibility of the board to either Public or Private.

Kanban-Specific Settings

The most critical setting for this view type is the Kanban Grouping Field:

  • Kanban Grouping Field: This field determines the vertical columns on your board. Typically, you would select a “Status” or “Stage” field so that cards are grouped by their progress (e.g., To Do, In Progress, Complete).

Advanced Customization & Logic

  • Drilldown Options: Define which view (such as a Detail View or Form View) opens when a user clicks on a card.
  • Filter Settings: Use Conditions to limit which records appear on the board (e.g., only show tasks assigned to the current user).
  • Custom Buttons: Add Custom Buttons or labels to cards to trigger specific workflows, like “Quick Approve” or “Archive”.

Managing Your View

Once your Kanban board is configured, use these standard lifecycle actions:

  • Preview: Test the board’s columns and card layouts to ensure the workflow is intuitive. preview_view
  • Publish: Deploy the view so it is live for your team. view_publish
  • Edit/Delete: Return to the builder at any time to add new fields to cards or change the grouping field. edit-view delete-view
