Overview for Beginners

If you are new to SnapApp, think of the Detail View as the “profile page” for your data. Whether you are looking at a specific employee, a single project, or an individual invoice, the Detail View organizes all relevant fields into one structured layout.

Key Benefits

• Clarity: Highlights essential details without the clutter of other records.
• Action-Oriented: Provides specific buttons (like Edit, Delete, or Clone) that only affect the record you are currently viewing.
• Context: Often displays “Related Views,” showing you other data linked to this specific record (e.g., seeing all “Tasks” while looking at a “Project” detail).

Creating Your First Detail View

To build a Detail View, you will use the View Builder.

1. Navigate to the Views section in your Application Settings.
2. Click + Add New to enter the builder.
3. Under General Settings, select Detail View as your View Type.
4. Choose the Object (the data table) you want to display.
5. Give your view a Name and Slug (the unique URL path).

Configuration Features

The Detail View Builder is divided into several logical sections to help you customize the experience.

• Fields: Select exactly which data fields you want to appear in the profile.
• Layout Toggles: You can choose to Hide Sidebar or Show Header to change how much screen space the data occupies.

• Related View Settings: This is a powerful feature that lets you embed other views (like a list of related contacts) directly inside the Detail View.

Managing the View Lifecycle

Once your configuration is complete, you can manage the view through these standard actions:

• Preview: Always use the Preview function to see how the data will look to an end-user before finalizing. To preview your view, follow this steps
• Publish: This makes your view live within the application.
• Edit/Delete: You can return to the settings at any time to update fields or remove the view entirely if it is no longer needed.
