SnapApp’s navigation system provides users with seamless access throughout the application. By configuring intuitive navigation elements, you can ensure users move efficiently between dashboards, record views, and external resources.

Types of Navigation Components

SnapApp supports various component types to help you build a tailored user experience:

Component Type Purpose
Create View Directs users to a “Create” form for a specific linked Object.
Custom View Links to a pre-built Custom View for your Objects.
Dashboard Navigates to a specific Dashboard created within the app.
Dynamic View Links to dynamic layouts (Calendar, Card, Form, etc.) for a specific Object.
Group / Folder Organizes multiple navigation elements into a dropdown menu for better UX.
Page Links to a standalone custom Page.
Separator A visual divider used to group or separate items in a list.
URL Redirects the user to an external or internal web address.

Creating a Navigation Component

  1. Open Application Settings.
  2. In the left navigation panel, locate the UX section and select Navigation.
  3. Click the + Add New button on the right-hand side of the list view.
  4. Select the Type of Navigation Component you wish to create from the available list.

For Create View:

  1. Select the Object from the dropdown
  2. Provide a proper Name for your navigation component and Description
  3. Choose the Icon that you want to display and select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

For Custom View:

  1. Select the particular View from the dropdown.
  2. Provide a proper Name for your navigation component and Description
  3. Choose the Icon that you want to display and select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

For Dashboard:

  1. Select the particular Dashboard from the dropdown which was created earlier
  2. Provide a proper Name for your navigation component and Description
  3. Choose the Icon that you want to display and select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

For Dynamic View:

  1. Select the particular type of Views from the dropdown like Calender, Card, Form, etc. and also Select an Object from the dropdown
  2. Provide a proper Name for your navigation component and Description
  3. Choose the Icon that you want to display and select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

For Group View:

**Note**: For this navigation component, the user has to create a Group and then assign that newly created Group from the dropdown

  1. Provide a proper Name for your navigation component and Description
  2. Choose the Icon that you want to display and select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

For Page View:

  1. Select the particular Page from the dropdown which was created earlier
  2. Provide a proper Name for your navigation component and Description
  3. Choose the Icon that you want to display and select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

For Separator View:

  1. Select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

For URL View:

Url-Navigation-Type

  1. Enter a URL that you want to get redirected to by clicking the navigation component
  2. Provide a proper Name for your navigation component and Description
  3. Choose the Icon that you want to display and select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

Component Configurations

Regardless of the type selected, most components require a Name, Description, and an Icon. Set the status to Active to make the component visible to users.

Specific Configuration Rules:

  • Create View: Select the target Object the user should be able to create.
  • Custom View: Select the specific View from the dropdown.
  • Dashboard: Select the pre-created Dashboard from the dropdown.
  • Dynamic View: Select the View Type (e.g., Calendar, Card, Form) and the associated Object.
  • Group View: You must first create a Group entry, then assign the navigation item to that Group via the dropdown.
  • Page View: Select the target Page from the dropdown.
  • URL View: Enter the destination URL.
  • Separator: No specific data required; simply set to Active to display the line.

Common Layout & Logic

Position

Choose where the navigation element will appear within the application interface:

  • Left Nav: The primary vertical sidebar.
  • Top Nav: The horizontal bar at the top of the screen.

Conditional Visibility (Show If)

To control access dynamically, use the Show If field. By entering a logic expression here, you can hide or reveal navigation items based on user roles, permissions, or specific data conditions.

Parent Grouping

If you want a navigation item to appear inside a dropdown menu (Folder or Group), select the appropriate parent in the Group dropdown during configuration.
