SnapApp’s navigation system provides users with seamless access throughout the application, making it easy to navigate between different sections using intuitive navigation elements.

Types of Navigation Components

There are various types of navigation components.

  1. Create View - It enables the user to create a nav component that takes them to a Create View of an Object that they have linked.
  2. Custom View - It enables the user to create a nav component that takes them to a Custom View that the user has already built for their Custom Objects.
  3. Dashboard - It enables the user to create a nav component that takes them to a Dashboard that the user has already built.
  4. Dynamic View - It enables the user to create a nav component that takes them to a Dynamic View that the user has already built for their Custom Objects.
  5. Group - This is an important navigation element which is used to group nav components under a main group in the form of a drop-down. It enables the user to group alike components providing a better UX experience.
  6. Page - It is a navigation element that is used to navigate to a custom page and link it
  7. Separator - It adds a divider or a line between various navigation components to give a good UI experience.
  8. Folder - It is used to group navigation components under a common folder in the form of a drop-down.

Create and Configure a Navigation Component

  1. Open Application Settings → Select the drop-down from the left navigation panel under UX → Click on Navigation → Click the Add New button from the right hand side of the list view of created navigations
  2. Now click on the type of Navigation Component you want as mentioned in the above section.
  3. Select an appropriate icon for your component
  4. Now configure the views according to the selected navigation component:

For Create View:

  1. Select the Object from the dropdown
  2. Provide a proper Name for your navigation component and Description
  3. Choose the Icon that you want to display and select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

For Custom View:

Custom-View-Navigation-Type

  1. Select the particular View from the dropdown.
  2. Provide a proper Name for your navigation component and Description
  3. Choose the Icon that you want to display and select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

For Dashboard:

  1. Select the particular Dashboard from the dropdown which was created earlier
  2. Provide a proper Name for your navigation component and Description
  3. Choose the Icon that you want to display and select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

For Dynamic View:

  1. Select the particular type of Views from the dropdown like Calender, Card, Form, etc. and also Select an Object from the dropdown
  2. Provide a proper Name for your navigation component and Description
  3. Choose the Icon that you want to display and select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

For Group View:

**Note**: For this navigation component, the user has to create a Group and then assign that newly created Group from the dropdown

  1. Provide a proper Name for your navigation component and Description
  2. Choose the Icon that you want to display and select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

For Page View:

  1. Select the particular Page from the dropdown which was created earlier
  2. Provide a proper Name for your navigation component and Description
  3. Choose the Icon that you want to display and select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

For Separator View:

  1. Select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

For URL View:

Url-Navigation-Type

  1. Enter a URL that you want to get redirected to by clicking the navigation component
  2. Provide a proper Name for your navigation component and Description
  3. Choose the Icon that you want to display and select the status as Active to make your nav component visible.

Common Configurations

  1. Choose the Appropriate Position for your Navigation element to show up. It can be either Left Nav, Top Nav, or in the User Dropdown Menu on the top right of your application.

    The arrow above signifies the position of top navigation components User-drop-down-Nav

The arrow above signifies the position of user drop-down navigation components

  1. User may choose a Group (Only if the current navigation needs to be grouped)
  2. To enable the use of this navigation component based on some conditions user inserts an expression in the Show If field.
